I've never thought about it, but climate and climate-adjacent topics do occur more often in my life than I realised, and it's encouraging to realise that if we were all just a bit more intentional in our actions and everyday chats with people, we might move some mental needles.
My partner and I don't own a car and it's always tempting to use our shared car membership whenever we are going somewhere beyond our neighbourhood train line (changing lines instantly adds 20 minutes to any journey because the connecting trains don't always line up), but this year I've been trying to plan our journeys better so that we can avoid the temptation of driving, and eventually it becomes more of a habit. We picked our home for its proximity to public transport and I am really glad we did, so we should use it more!
We also moved closer to the public transit and its helped immensely. Unfortunately, we are still very much dependent on our family car for lots of trips. (Esply when taking our dog or Indian family around. Most of our friends stay far from transit.) Suburban sprawl is expansive out here and NIMBY-ism doesnt allow transit to get funded. We have an e-bike which helps out with some of the milage. (An expensive EV when we rent our housing (without access to a charger) didnt make sense.) If I can sit in a bus/train given I sit on my couch a lot to do listening/reading/scrolling, I try to. Our trains got cleaner after some protesting. Our busses are half full with ridership numbers that worries us. Future of transit in America can be given or taken away. We are always on the edge. Democrats or Republicans cant come out and say "take public transit for climate". They will get voted out. Guns, red meat and SUVs are religion out here.
My dog is basically vegan with the exception of a small dollop of yogurt to his food after being diagnosed with allergies to chicken ( and I wasn’t even going to try red meat options).
He eats Halo plant based dry and wet food ( lentils, chickpeas, brown rice etc).
His treats are also Halo ( oats and blueberry, sweet potato and quinoa).
He is perfectly healthy although this diet may not be recommended for a puppy under 12 months.
Thank you for sharing. There is this guilt that I don't give her certain high carbon food, but also pride that my puppy lives more gently on this planet. She does go to our friends places and begs for food/sits by their food storage asking for beef. Its embarrassing but such is dog life ? When is she not begging for food !

I will check out Halo.
I mash half wet canned with half dry kibble and a bit of yoghurt. I was making his food before discovering the chicken allergy.
Arthur loves it! Do know if you switch foods, take it slowly and even then her little belly may be upset for a few days…
